Great quotes

“Women are directly adapted to act as the nurses and educators of our early childhood, for the simple reason that they themselves are childish, foolish, and short-sighted—in a word, are big children all their lives, something intermediate between the child and the man, who is a man in the strict sense of the word. Consider how a young girl will toy day after day with a child, dance with it and sing to it; and then consider what a man, with the very best intentions in the world, could do in her place.” – Arthur Schopenhauer

“If you see your country being overrun by foreigners but can’t speak freely, are elected to office but can’t participate in government even after successful elections, and can’t evade the scrutiny of the political police, you aren’t free. I see no difference between the political regimes of Russia and Western Europe, except that President Vladimir Putin doesn’t seem to be actively replacing his own people, unlike Angela Merkel.” – Gregory Hood

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” – Edmund Burke

On how the appetite for democracy wanes in crisis: “In times of relative tranquility, we feel we can afford to be patient. We understand that policy questions are complicated and merit careful thought. We want our leaders to consult experts, gather as much information as possible, test assumptions,, and give us a chance to voice our opinions on the available options. We see long-term planning as necessary and deliberation as a virtue, but when we decide that action is urgently needed, our tolerance for delay disappears.” – Madeline Albright

The importance of race to identity: “In one phrase – hostility to the negro as a citizen. The South cares for no other question. Everything gives way to it. They support or oppose men, advocate or denounce policies, flatter or murder, just as such action will help them as far as possible to recover their old power over the negro.” – Reconstruction Era Governor Ames of Missisippi

“Freedom, in other words, is more a capacity to act according to what is best within our given natures as men and women, rather than an autonomy to self-define.” – Oz Conservative

“When I am weaker than you, I ask you for freedom because that is according to your principles; when I am stronger than you, I take away your freedom because that is according to my principles.” – Frank Hubert

“You can’t fight two wars at once.” – Donald Trump

“It’s not about the economy, stupid.” – Patrick J. Buchanan

“Our challenge is less to find fault with our mighty forebears, than to be worthy of them.” – Tony Abbott

“I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.” – Ronald Reagan

“Individual moslems may show splendid qualities; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those that follow it.” – Winston Churchill

“A mistake libertarians make is to think that you can uphold the good of the individual whilst letting the communal setting of life fall apart. We are social creatures. We require a life together with others to live well and to fulfil who we are.” – Oz Conservative

“Well-balanced men, who are secure and confident in their masculinity are far less likely to harm women than men who are insecure of resentful.” – Oz Conservative

On the instability of ethnic diversity: “The more different parts you have, the less compatible they are together.” – Nicholas Fuentes

On the traditional and modern understanding of liberty: “Liberty, by this understanding, was not doing as one wishes, but was choosing the right and virtuous course. To be free, above all, was to be free from enslavement to one’s own basest desires, which could never be fulfilled, and the pursuit of which could only foster ceaseless craving and discontent.” – Patrick Deneen

“Liberty, as defined by the originators of modern liberalism, was the condition in which humans were completely free to pursue whatever they desired.” – Patrick Deneen

“Tolerance and apathy are the last virtues of a dying society.” – Aristotle

“If you assume that you live in a society that only exists as a collection of self-creating individuals with no distinct ties to each other, then what is there really at the larger level to defend?” – Oz Conservative

  1. All it takes for the good to succeed is for those of evil intent to do nothing – so all evil buggers get cracking before the goody goodies stuff everything up.

  2. “Good men”? Eeeeek~! How could you!
First, you’ll be screeched at because ‘good’ is a very subjective term (to a Muslim, cutting someone’s head off is a very good deed highly recommended in their Good Book’s systems … whereas to me it’s not. Double-plus ungood, in fact) (too messy, yeuch); and you (Burke) used the ‘M’ word. Of course he meant ‘persons’ … or at a pinch we might accept ‘people’ …

  3. Sir, thanks for your recent Like of a post at my blog, American Infrasound (“African Slavery Would Have Continued in the U.S. If ISIS Ran the Circus”). I’m now following your blog and look forward to keeping up with your posts. It’s always great to discover another individual out there who’s decided to become a “citizen journalist” and fight the distressing situation in the world. Although I’m an American and on the other side of the globe from you, it’s as if we are fighting the same war. I totally agree w/ ALA’s statement about “individual liberty, small government, Western values, social fairness and an integrated multi-ethnic society”. Keep up the good work!!!
